Hit the Streets in your Green Hat | Sunday, May 19, 2019

The Take A Stand Green Hat Walk is not just an opportunity to walk with a green hat. It's a family friendly festival ~ green hat themed walk created by Mental Health Association of Greater Chicago (MHAGC) and Rebecca's Dream (RD), (IL 501c3 non profits), with the goal of engaging everyone to Take A Stand to:

Bridge the Gap and Bring Equality to mental health services

Bring the understanding that mental illness is just that -- an illness

End the pain and solitude by making mental health a priority in healthcare and our communities

Eradicate the stigma and prejudice associated with mental illness

This event highlights a 5k walk and culminates with an afternoon of music, food, free entertainment and fun for the entire family.




Nikki Lynette is a performer, producer, writer, and visual artist whose style is equal parts hip hop, alternative, and pop. Nikki has currently been awarded a Theatre Show through Northwestern University - American Music Theatre Project along with shooting a mental health documentary entitled “Happy Songs About Unhappy Things.” Nikki is creating a movement to disrupt the Mental Health Community as she expresses her own personal challenges with Mental Health through her show as well as her music. She is here to show people that it is okay to talk about Mental Health and that there are ways to work through each day. She herself, deals with this struggle daily. 

Xavier Fulton is a Canadian football offensive tackle. He was drafted by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the 2009 NFL Draft. Xavier will share his inspirational story about living with anxiety and depression as well as the challenges of athletic traumatic brain injuries. A Chicago based band whose mission is to change lives with their music.

Haley is a college student that will share her powerful story of struggle and hope. She has spoken to high school students relaying the message "IT'S OKAY NOT TO BE OKAY."

DESIGN A HAT ~ Win a Prize:


Green is the universal color for awareness of mental health. Design a hat to wear for the walk. Prizes will be awarded for the best decorated hats.
